Morning, LAGL! To dip my toes into the clone cost discussion that sparked up while I was cursing summer through the night: one can agree that Eve is largely about player choice, and the impact thereof on other players' choices.
For a choice to truly be a meaningful one and not just an obvious foreknown conclusion, there needs to be a reason for deliberation. What CCP seems to have in mind is to remove an arbitrary factor that has little real interesting effect on the system as a whole with no real player choice present, and I applaud them for it.

It's a fantastically atmospheric (and very graphically impressive) game, although it's brutally hard and will make your computer cry. If you're into that sort of thing, have at it, or you can get it as a gift and give it to someone else you know. Free is free!
It's definitely an impressive game, but it's always just struck me as 'hobo STALKER'. That said, free is most definitely free. On a different note, I like the new portrait.

The new UI has an interesting, minimalist charm to it that strikes my fancy, but that boils down to preference. It must be understood that Eve's been around for a long time indeed, and there are many bits and pieces that stubbornly cling on to this day. Change is as inevitable an inexorable as the kneejerk reactions to preserve the old that ensue.
One can, however, look towards the more rapid development/release cycle that has recently come into operation as a source of confidence; it allows CCP more changes to fix and adjust as is necessary and according to player opinions.

Madame Dusette makes a good point. Sculpt a character that goes beyond the generic with more depth than a parking lot puddle. That said, don't confuse 'depth' for unjustifiable angst and excessive grimdark overtones.
A lovely test someone once suggested for a character was to be able to define them without referencing their appearance, their job, or their moral/political opinions.

Amen to that. When I last visited England during July, I recall hearing a PSA in the metro informing the passengers to drink lots of water and stay in the shade, because temperatures could hit up to 30C!
We've been getting ~40C this summer here, and it's great weather for a swim and to sharpen your tan a little. Less cool when you're lugging about **** in the sun, but c'est la vie.
